  ATTEND:   Government treasury, comptroller, finance, auditing, accounting or budget office staff,  private CPA, accounting or any other firm staff that do business with New York State government, or accounting, finance or business students interested in NYS government.
           
           

DESCRIPTION

The New York Capital Chapter of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) is pleased to announce Part I of our three part Government Finance Series. The training for Part I will include presentations on the New York State budget cycle, fund accounting principles, financial terminology and a high-level overview of appropriations, revenues, federal grants, general ledger accounting and budgetary-based financial reports.

To share their experience in Government Accounting is Thomas J. Mahoney, Director of the Bureau of State Accounting Operations in the State Comptroller’s Office, Division of Payroll, Accounting and Revenue Services, and Melody Goetz, Assistant Director of the Bureau.

The topics for Part II and Part III of the series will be “Developing a Robust Fraud Prevention Program” scheduled for January 8, 2009 and “An Introduction to NY State Government GAAP Financial Reporting” scheduled for April 23, 2009.
