DESCRIPTION

This course covers the organization and structure of government, public accountability, ethics in government, government financing process and other legal and environmental aspects of government.  It will provide an excellent three days of continuing professional education training, and will also help prepare you to take the second part of the AGA’s Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) exam.

Instructor Mr. Dexter Peach retired in 1998 after a distinguished 38-year career at the U. S. Government Accountability Office (GAO).  Mr. Peach holds a BS degree in Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of South Carolina and a MS in Public Financial Management and Budgeting from George Washington University. He has attended executive training at Harvard Business School, Dartmouth College, and the Aspen Institute, and is a Certified Public Accountant in Virginia.

Since retiring from GAO, Mr. Peach has worked as an independent consultant on government management issues with a specific concentration on financial and performance management, internal control and auditing issues. Mr. Peach has conducted certified government manager training for the Association of Government Accountants and a wide variety of courses for Management Concepts, Inc. Mr. Peach has also consulted at numerous federal agencies.

The GFM certification measures the knowledge and skills that a professional needs to succeed in today’s business environment.  The CGFM is recognized as the mark of excellence in financial management.
